Lean In

After listening to this audio I feel like I have a deeper understanding of some of the life challenges women face. I cant say I naturally thought about these issues but now I am conscious of it and I am thinking ahead to create a plan to help my daughters navigate the landscape.

One of the things talked about was how women a lot of time are made to feel like they have to make a choice between family and career. Typically when a couple has a child, the difficult questions that comes up is who will stop working to care for the child? if the child is sick at school, who will leave work to get the child? And the list goes on. At times women may feel guilty for choosing to work and putting their child in childcare. If a woman quits her job, she at times feels like she had to forego her goals, dreams, and career ambitions.

The book also talked about women passing up on leadership opportunities at work because she might be pregnant, or because it will demand more time away from home, or a number of reasons. However this is seldom the case for men. Fortunately the book provided some practical solutions to these issues.
