We Need To Set 2020 Family Goals

As 2019 is coming to an end, it’s becoming increasingly important to me to start thinking about my goals. In the midst of me reflecting on how crazy 2019 has been, there are definitely things I want to change going into 2020. In 2019 I sort of had goals but none of them were written. I knew I should write out my goals but for some reason I was too lazy to commit my goals to paper. Because I was too lazy to write out my goals, I sort of had to take 2019 as it came, and boy did it come fast. I know for a fact I was less productive, less active, and overall less satisfied with myself.

You can either learn from other people mistakes, or you can learn from your own mistakes. In this case we learned from our own mistakes

2020 I will not make the same mistake. In fact I want to encourage my entire family to for the habit of goal setting. But how do I get everyone excited about their goals, and more importantly how do I get everyone to come together and build out family goals. One of the reasons why I see this as a difficult task is because my children are 9 Madison, 5 Monroe, and 4 Midas. (Im also married, but I don’t think it will be difficult to get Candace involved.) I have to find a way to keep their attention, make it memorable, and create a way for them to see the family goals regularly. Additionally,

Eureka!!! I have heard women say for years that, they are getting together with their girls for a Vision Board Party. I think this might be the perfect idea, the only problem is I have never been a part of a Vision Board Party, so I don’t know how to make it be a good one (I’m not sure there is a such thing as a bad Vision Board Party or not. Maybe I’m over thinking this thing.)  It’s not like the fellas get pumped up and say, “We need to get together and have a vision board party.” At least its unheard of to me in the circles I run in.

I don’t believe in the “Do as I say, not as I do” Philosophy.

As I grow as a parent and a leader, I’m starting to realize that a lot of things in life are caught not taught. Our children are paying attention to our actions and are developing habits based upon our behavior. Because I am conscious of this, I am making a valiant effort to form as many good habits as I can. I always want to be a do it first, lead by example type of parent. With this I mind, I am going to start working on my 2020 goals immediately and I think I am going to use my goals as an example and inspiration for the family.
