Hustling For My Last Name | Team Edwards

I was at an event where a speaker made a statement that deeply resonated with me. He said, in most black families the youth don’t know their grandparent and if they know their grandparents, chances are they don’t know their great grandparents. He said they reason why is because they didn’t leave anything. He said in other cultures, children know multiple generations because they left something. He said when you go to their homes, there is a gigantic picture on the mantle, and if you ask them about it, its typically a unique story to go along with it. I digested what he said and it ranged true for me. I knew my grandparents on my fathers side. But I didn’t know my great grandparents on either side. From that moment on, it became imperative to me that I begin to build a legacy for my family. I decided that I wanted the last name “Edwards” to mean something. This is the beginning of something great!
